Látrabjarg the bird cliff in the Northwest. It is the largest sea cliff Iceland, 14 km long and 441 meters high. Látrabjarg in everyday speech is divided into four parts, called Keflavik Cliff, Látrabjarg Municipal Cliff and Breiðavík rescue. Látrabjarg has been farmed since the settlement. It is the westernmost point of Iceland.

 

The name comes from the word vengeance.

 

The achievement of the rescue Látrabjarg

Dhoom trawler stranded in the Geldingsskorardal great storm on December 12, 1947 and began the massive rescue. They lasted for three days and almost all farmers in grendinni worked to rescue. Three crew members were drowned before rescuers had sunk down rock 12 who remained alive were all rescued. A year later, made a documentary about the rescue Oskar Gislason directed. While the master was stranded trawler Sargon and reached Oskar images of the rescue and used in the documentary. She was released in 1949.
