Hjalli Church was taken into use in 1971 and is located in a residential area of the Capital Region of Iceland. The church serves the local community and plays an important role in neighborhood life.
The surrounding area offers excellent outdoor recreation, including the Elliðaárdalur Valley, one of Reykjavík’s most popular green spaces, as well as the Fossvogur Disc Golf Course and the Seljadalur Disc Golf Course.
Several notable churches are located nearby, including Bústaðakirkja, Digranes Church and Breiðholt Church, forming a strong ecclesiastical presence in the eastern part of the city.
Sports and leisure activities are prominent in the area, with clubs such as Víkingur and Breiðablik, as well as swimming facilities at Versalir Swimming Pool.
Hjalli Church is therefore situated in a lively district where community life, recreation and culture come together, making it a natural stop for visitors exploring greater Reykjavík.
Hjallakirkja stendur í sveitaumhverfi.
Kirkjan er friðsæl og söguleg.
