Kolufossar are a series of impressive waterfalls in the river Víðidalsá, located in northern Iceland. The waterfalls flow through Kolugljúfur, a dramatic and narrow canyon carved by glacial meltwater over thousands of years.
The waterfalls are named after the troll woman Kola from Icelandic folklore, who was said to live in the gorge. According to legend, Kolugljúfur was her dwelling place, adding a mythical atmosphere to the already striking scenery.
A marked walking path follows the edge of the canyon, offering spectacular views of the waterfalls and the rugged landscape below. Kolufossar is a peaceful and less crowded destination, ideal for travelers seeking authentic Icelandic nature away from the main tourist routes.
Kolufossar er áhugaverður staður á Íslandi sem vert er að heimsækja.
