Morsárfoss is the tallest waterfall in Iceland and one of the most impressive
natural features within Vatnajökull National Park. The waterfall drops approximately
240 meters from the Morsárjökull glacier, creating a powerful cascade, especially during
summer when glacial meltwater is at its peak.
Located east of Skaftafell, Morsárfoss is fed by the glacial river Morsá, which originates
from Vatnajökull. The surrounding landscape is dramatic and wild, characterized by steep
mountains, glaciers, and vast open scenery shaped by ice and volcanic activity.
Reaching Morsárfoss requires a demanding hike, making it a destination mainly for experienced
hikers and adventure seekers. Those who make the effort are rewarded with an unforgettable
view of one of Iceland’s most spectacular waterfalls.
Morsárfoss is particularly striking in clear weather, when the waterfall can be seen
plunging down the mountainside with the glacier towering above, offering a powerful example
of Iceland’s raw and untamed natural beauty.
Morsárfoss er áhugaverður staður á Íslandi sem vert er að heimsækja.
