Reykholtslaug Swimming Pool
Reykholtslaug is one of Iceland’s oldest and most historic
swimming pools, located in Reykholt in the Borgarfjörður region.
Built in 1927, the pool played an important role in local daily life
during the early 20th century.
For decades, Reykholtslaug served as a social gathering place and a teaching pool
where many Icelanders learned to swim. Naturally heated geothermal water flows
into the pool year-round, making it a pleasant destination in all seasons.
The surrounding area offers a wide range of nearby attractions.
The charming Hrunalaug hot spring lies close by,
while the village of Flúðir provides services,
restaurants, and accommodation options for travelers.
Adventure seekers can experience
white-water rafting on the Hvítá River,
visit the scenic Faxi waterfall,
or explore outdoor areas such as Selsvöllur
and Neslaug.
A short drive brings visitors to the famous
Geysir geothermal area in
Haukadalur,
where Strokkur erupts regularly.
Nearby, travelers can also relax at
Geysir Swimming Pool.
Those seeking a quieter experience may enjoy
Kúalaug,
a small and peaceful hot spring that has become increasingly popular
with visitors looking for authentic Icelandic bathing spots.
Reykholtslaug er áhugaverður staður á Íslandi sem vert er að heimsækja.
