The area is renowned for its dramatic and diverse landscapes, where glaciers, mountains, volcanic sands, rivers, waterfalls, and birch woodlands meet. Well-known attractions include Svartifoss, Svínafellsjökull and Fjallsjökull.
Skaftafell offers numerous marked hiking trails suitable for all skill levels, along with a campsite, visitor centre, and excellent facilities. It is considered one of the best locations in Iceland for hiking, glacier exploration, and landscape photography.
