Tvísöngur – Seyðisfjörður
Tvísöngur is a unique sound sculpture located on the hillside above
Seyðisfjörður,
directly opposite the Brimberg fish processing plant.
The artwork stands prominently on the slope and is visible from many parts of town.
The sculpture was created by German artist Lukas Kühne
and covers an area of approximately 30 square metres.
The height of the structure ranges from 2 to 4 metres and it consists of
five interconnected stone domes.
Each dome is tuned to its own acoustic frequency, producing a single tone.
Together, the five tones form a harmonic system based on
ancient fifth-interval singing.
Visitors can move between the domes and experience how sound changes
depending on position and voice.
Admission to Tvísöngur is free and the site is a popular walk for visitors of all ages.
The hike takes approximately 15–20 minutes
and follows an old gravel road uphill.
The trail includes a gentle ascent, small stream crossings,
and offers scenic views along the way.
From the sculpture, visitors are rewarded with sweeping views across
Seyðisfjörður
and the surrounding mountain landscape,
making the visit a memorable combination of art, nature and sound.
Nearby attractions include
Gufufoss waterfall,
Seyðisfjörður Blue Church
and the disc golf course,
all popular stops for visitors exploring the area.
Tvísöngur er áhugaverður staður á Íslandi sem vert er að heimsækja.
