Frostastaðavatn is a lagoon located within the Landmannafréttur highland
area in Iceland. The lake is surrounded by striking lava fields: Dómdalshraun
to the west, Námahraun to the south, and Frostastaðahraun to the north,
creating a dramatic and colorful natural setting.
The surface area of Frostastaðavatn is approximately 2.6 square kilometers,
with an average depth of about five meters. The lake is fed by meltwater and
precipitation from the surrounding highlands and forms an important part of
the local hydrological system.
Frostastaðavatn lies along two well-known highland routes, Fjallabaksleið
nyrðri (F208) and Landmannaleið (F225), making it a common stop for travelers
exploring the Landmannalaugar region. The area offers wide views of volcanic

The lake is a popular fishing destination, particularly known for trout,
