Drangsnes Hot Pots

The Drangsnes Hot Pots are three geothermal hot tubs located directly on the shoreline in Drangsnes in the Strandir region of Iceland. They were installed after geothermal water was discovered here in 1997 and have since become one of the area’s most popular attractions.

The hot pots are enjoyed by both locals and visitors, offering a unique experience of bathing in warm geothermal water right beside the ocean, with wide views across the fjord. Although a modern swimming pool was later built in Drangsnes, there has never been any intention to remove the hot pots.

Use of the hot pots is free of charge and open to everyone. Visitors are encouraged to treat the area with care and show consideration to other bathers.

Nearby facilities include the Drangsnes Campsite and the Drangsnes Disc Golf Course, making the village a convenient base for travelers.

Several historic churches are located close by, including Kaldrananes Church, Óspakseyri Church and Hólmavík Church. The town of Hólmavík, with the Hólmavík Campsite, is also within easy driving distance.

Other nearby attractions include Laugarhóll and the historic Gvendarlaug, both closely connected to geothermal activity and folklore in the Strandir region.
