Suðurgata is one of Reykjavík’s oldest streets, running from Aðalstræti toward Reykjavík Pond.
The area has yielded important archaeological remains from the settlement era and forms part of the city’s earliest urban core.
Today the street connects historic downtown Reykjavík with major cultural and academic institutions.
