Vogar is a coastal town located on the northern part of the Reykjanes Peninsula in southwest Iceland. The town forms part of the Municipality of Vogar, which includes both Vogar and the rural area of Vatnsleysuströnd.
The history of Vogar is closely connected to fishing and maritime life. For centuries, proximity to rich fishing grounds and favorable landing conditions shaped settlement and everyday life along the coast.
Vatnsleysuströnd extends east of the town and consists mainly of scattered farms and small communities. The coastline is characterized by lava fields, rocky shores, and historical remains linked to early seafaring and coastal farming.
Today, Vogar is a growing community combining residential development, local services, and close access to nature. Its location provides easy connections to Reykjavík and neighboring towns on the Reykjanes Peninsula, making it an appealing place to live and visit.
