Borholan is a popular and unique natural hot spring located in Kerlingarfjöll, within the scenic Ásgarðsgil canyon. The pool was created in 2002 when drilling for geothermal water revealed a natural water source measuring approximately 36°C.

The hot water flows directly from the borehole and mixes with cold glacial streams nearby, forming a small but comfortable bathing pool. Surrounded by colorful rhyolite mountains, geothermal steam, and rugged highland scenery, Borholan offers a truly authentic Icelandic hot spring experience.

Borholan has become a favorite stop for hikers and travelers seeking relaxation after exploring the trails of Kerlingarfjöll. The facilities are minimal and there are no services on site, which helps preserve the area’s raw and natural character.

Visitors should use caution, as water temperature may vary depending on weather and water flow. Guests are encouraged to respect the fragile highland environment and leave no trace behind.
