Fossárrétt is a historic stone sheep pen located in a natural setting beside the Fossá river. The structure was once used during the annual sheep gathering and reflects traditional farming practices of the area.
Built from locally sourced stone, the pen blends naturally into the surrounding landscape. The dry-stone walls demonstrate skilled craftsmanship and offer insight into rural construction methods used by earlier generations.

Several notable attractions are located nearby, including Skorhagafoss waterfall, Þórufoss, Steðji and the Bjarteyjarsandur campsite.
The surrounding area also offers excellent outdoor opportunities, with views toward the Móskarðshnjúkar mountains, Skálafell and Meðalfell in Kjós, making Fossárrétt a worthwhile stop when exploring the region.
