Fossá is a river in Hvalfjörður, West Iceland, originating in the mountains above the fjord and flowing through varied and rugged terrain before reaching the sea. The river is known for its series of waterfalls that cascade down the slopes of the fjord.
Along Fossá, several waterfalls of different sizes can be found, where the water drops over steep hillsides and into narrow gorges. These falls are especially impressive during periods of high water flow, such as in spring or after heavy rainfall.
The area surrounding Fossá is popular with hikers and nature enthusiasts, offering diverse scenery, tranquility, and beautiful views across Hvalfjörður. Fossá is a fine example of the many natural gems located close to Iceland’s capital region.
Fossá er áhugaverður staður á Íslandi sem vert er að heimsækja.
